Better

I think i'm well enough to recount my WYD Germany adventures to you.
We arrived at Frankfurt on thursday the 11th and drove to the lil' town of Liesborn. I met my own personal host family and we had pizza for dinner. They put wierd stuff on their pizza! Mini shrimp, salmon, corn, radishes, cucumbers, and other more normal stuff. My host family consisted of Monica(mother), George(father), Stephen(big bro), and Katrin(big sis). Katrin could speak english very well so there wasn't much of a problem. After dinner we played UNO til 11 pm. Friday, we went and visited a pig and cow farm. Afterwards we had dinner gathering w/everyone. Good thing there was a mini bonfire b/c you could see your white breath on the air. Saturday, we woke up at 4 am. 11 y.o. Luca and his grandpa took me to a hunting lookout to see the 'waking of the nature'. It was very relaxing. I saw the first bunny! Mwahahahaaha! Then we saw some pheasants, but they really wanted me to see some rogue deer. We found out later that there was sheep in our field and deer won't go near them. Later that day we saw 3 castles of which were very cool! Sunday we went to Munster and attended the Opening Ceremony for us WYD pilgrims. Monday, we drove to Berlin to do some site seeing. The Berlin wall, Reistag gov't building, and shopping were interesting. After awhile tho, you tend to want to just look around for yourself and do some longer shopping, but the schedule is too tight.
Tuesday we said goodbye to our host families and left for Cologne. We went to our hotel and dropped our stuff off. Then to the subway station. It became so crowded in there that you realized the meaning of packed like sardines. People were chanting different songs and their nations' names, 'USA!' It was awesome! Then the polize came to guide things especially when it came to the escalators where everyone was trying to get. We all eventually got to the stadium where the opening mass was. But we ended up in the field b/c it was over crowded. The rest of the week consisted of walking...a lot. At one point we went to a historical Edith Stein documentary thing. She was pretty cool. A martyr of the holocaust. We saw Pope Benedict 16th as a small figure on the ferri twice. The most rememberable other event was Saturday night. We camped out on a field for the next day's ending mass. Unfortunetely, another cold front blew thro and we weren't prepared. So mom and i were huddled against each other and tossing and turning the whole night. Sunday morning everything was damp and a thick fog covered us. Scary! Haha! So the ending mass came and went. We saw the pope on the big screen(too crowded to see him close up). Then began the trek to find our bus. Ruth, Mom, and i were separated so we were able to find it faster. The directions given were vague. So we found buses, but there was millions of them parked one after the other at the side of the road! We eventually found our bus w/a giant orange balloon attached to it. It took us 3 hours to find it! Others from our group appeared an hour and a half later! Gah! Very painful.
The Germans were very welcoming and cooperative. I love them to bits! The weather during the day was perfect. The food was pretty sweet. And i can't think of what else to type. Keep in your prayers two of my friends who were in a car accident and are trying to recover. Well i've got to do some make up homework. It's great to be home and see all you guys! Love yall much and bug yas laters!
